The Role: Communication Officer - Gender Statistics
As a Communication Officer for Gender Statistics, you will be crucial in supporting the implementation of the UN Women’s Flagship Programme Initiative, "Making Every Woman and Girl Count" (Women Count). This initiative aims to radically improve the production, availability, accessibility, and use of quality data and statistics on gender equality and women’s empowerment.Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and Implement Communication Strategies: You will design and execute communication and advocacy strategies to raise awareness about gender statistics in Bangladesh. This includes conducting needs assessments, monitoring media, and supporting outreach campaigns with key government partners like the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) and the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs.- Create Advocacy Materials: Your role will involve developing and disseminating advocacy materials, including press releases, briefing documents, and stories from the field. You will work closely with communication specialists to produce engaging audio-visual content highlighting UN Women’s work.
- Manage Media Relations: Building and maintaining relationships with the press will be key to your job. You’ll facilitate interviews, organize press briefings, and ensure that UN Women’s initiatives receive the media coverage they deserve.
- Enhance Online Presence: You’ll oversee the online presence of Women Count in Bangladesh, ensuring that the program's activities are well-represented on the web and across social media platforms.
- Facilitate Knowledge Sharing: You will help organize training sessions and workshops on communication and advocacy, sharing best practices and lessons learned from your work to further the goals of gender equality.
